No arrests after Muratti Vase pitch invasion

No arrests have been made "at this stage" after flares and smoke bombs were let off and a bin was thrown during a pitch invasion after the annual Muratti Vase match, said Jersey Police.

Spectators ran onto the pitch after Guernsey beat Jersey 2-1 to win the trophy for the second successive year on Saturday.

Tim Pryor, chief executive of the Jersey Football Association said he was disappointed that some fans "crossed the line" and added that flares may have damaged the pitch at Springfield Stadium.

Jersey Police said officers and event staff had "concentrated on separating fans and restoring order, which was done quickly" and that no-one had come forward to report an offence.

"Police will be reviewing CCTV, drone footage and third-party material in due course," the force added.
