Police probe 'unexplained' death of man on path in Coatbridge

Police are investigating the "unexplained" death of a 51-year-old man whose body was found on a cycle path behind a supermarket in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called at 07:30 to a report of an unresponsive man near the Tesco store at Faraday Retail Park in Coatbridge.

Police Scotland said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and "extensive inquiries" were ongoing into the incident.

A spokesperson added: "Officers remain in the area and anyone with any concerns or information can approach them."

Police said the man's family was being supported and a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
