Road re-opens after landslip caused by rain cleared
DoIA road has re-opened after a landslip blocking a road in the west of the Isle of Man has been cleared.
The Department of Infrastructure (DoI) said Patrick Road, which runs from Patrick village to St John's, had been closed until 16:00 GMT as work is undertaken to clear the road.
Sunday's "heavy and sustained rainfall" had led to the slip, which had "deposited material across both traffic lanes", it said.
The department said the road had reopened, but concrete blocks had been temporarily placed at the base of the roadside bank, and the carriageway was "narrowed past the site of the landslip."
The emergency works - which were carried out following an inspection by the government's structural engineers - included measures to "reduce the likelihood of there being further slippage at that location", the DoI said.
The situation would be re-assessed in "due course" and a decision taken whether any further works were required to stabilise the bank, the department added.
An amber weather warning for further heavy rain between 00:00 and 10:00 GMT on Tuesday has been issued by Ronaldsway Met Office, with a red warning for coastal overtopping brought by gales following from 13:00.
