Vehicles were stopped in Lancing, West Sussex

Sussex Police said they seized a vehicle which was overloaded with scrap metal weighing one tonne during an initiative targeting illegal waste.

Officers stopped the vehicle in Withy Patch, Lancing, during the wide-ranging crackdown.

"The vehicle, believed to be without insurance, was seized and a fine issued," the force added.

Officers said operations against waste crime were regularly carried out.

"We do this to tackle the illicit transportation and trade in waste, which goes on to prevent fly tipping and the deposit of waste at illegal waste sites," they continued.
