Eastbourne man charged with seven terror offences

A man has been charged with seven counts of encouragement of terrorism contrary to section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006, police have said.

Thomas Smith, 33, of Blakes Way, Eastbourne, was arrested along with three other people on Thursday following an investigation into extreme right-wing terrorism in East Sussex.

Counter Terrorism Policing South East said a 27-year-old woman from Hailsham and two other men from Eastbourne, aged 36 and 41, had been released with no further action.

Mr Smith was remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, police added.
