Libertarian Party announces by-election candidate
Libertarian PartyThe Libertarian Party has announced Dan Clarke as their candidate for the Gorton and Denton by-election.
Clarke said he wanted to "roll back" the power of the state, adding: "The previous Tory Government weren't any better, but since Labour came into power they have overreached the arm of the state."
Clarke, who stood for the Liberal Party in the Runcorn and Helsby by-election last year, cited the proposal for digital ID cards as an example of this.
The Greater Manchester by-election follows the resignation of the area's former Labour MP, Andrew Gwynne, on health grounds.
"The Labour Party is very authoritarian," said Clarke.
"I am looking to roll back the arm of the state."
