An air, sea and land search operation has been launched to try to trace a missing woman in southern Scotland.

Nancy Hill, 81, from Kirkcudbright, has been described as about 5ft tall with shoulder-length hair and was believed to be wearing a maroon, knee-length smock dress and training shoes.

Her silver Citroen Picasso car has been found in the car park at Dhoon beach near the town.

Insp Lloyd Caven said police were growing "increasingly concerned" for her wellbeing and safety.
