Hospital bosses said they were working with a local authority to tackle flooding issues outside one of its entrances.

They said the road outside The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Gobowen, near Oswestry, Shropshire, had been affected over a long period of time whenever there is heavy rainfall.

"We appreciate that this causes significant disruption and difficulty for patients, staff and visitors alike," they added.

"The hospital is actively engaging with Shropshire Council on this issue, and the authority accepts there is an ongoing issue and are investigating ways to resolve it."

The issue affects visitors and staff using Entrance 2 at the hospital site.

Plans include considering building an enhanced soakway (an above-ground drainage system sometimes referred to as a mound system) to alleviate the problem.

There was not a timeframe for the work, bosses added, but said they would continue to share updates on their plans.
