The lorry overturned on Silk Mills Road at about 03:30 GMT, police said

A driver has been taken to hospital after their lorry carrying chickens overturned.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to Silk Mills Road in Taunton at about 03:30 GMT on Friday. One lane remains open, but there are delays in the area, officers said.

The lorry driver was assessed by paramedics then taken to hospital, and the chickens have been secured and moved.

Police said officers and the overturned lorry remain at the scene and recovery work "will take some time to be completed".
