Man and two women arrested after three police officers assaulted

Three police officers were attacked while responding to an assault near a bus stop in Inverness on Thursday afternoon.

One of the officers was taken to hospital for an assessment after being called to the incident in Mackintosh Road in Raigmore just after 16:00.

Police Scotland said a 32-year-old man and two women, aged 28 and 25, were arrested and charged in connection with police assault and breach of the peace.

It is understood the incident happened while a Stagecoach bus was at the bus stop.

A Stagecoach North Scotland spokesperson said: "We're aware of an incident reported in the Raigmore area of Inverness on Thursday afternoon involving one of our services.

"The safety of our customers and colleagues is always our top priority, and our driver acted in line with procedures at the time."

Police Scotland said its inquiries were ongoing.
