Bradford City have condemned "abhorrent" racist abuse aimed at defender Curtis Tilt following their away match at Huddersfield Town.

The club say the 34-year-old was targeted by a supporter in the home end as he left the pitch at the end of their 1-0 defeat at the Accu Stadium.

West Yorkshire Police said the incident had been reported by the referee and an investigation had been launched.

"We are investigating a racially-aggravated public order offence, and enquiries are ongoing with both clubs to identify the person involved," the force said.

In a statement, Bradford City said it would "cooperate fully" with all investigations and offer support to Tilt who had "allegedly been subjected to abhorrent discrimination".

"The club condemns all racist abuse in the strongest possible manner," they added.

Huddersfield Town also issued a statement saying it was aware of the alleged incident and would assist the relevant authorities and officials.

The club added: "We reiterate in the strongest possible terms that Huddersfield Town does not tolerate discrimination or anti-social behaviour of any kind."

Tilt, a Jamaican international, joined Bradford City from Salford City on a two-year deal in June.

He has also played for Blackpool, Rotherham and Wigan.
