Asian hornet nest removed from cliff face

People were urged to avoid a car park in Jersey during an operation to remove an Asian hornet nest from a cliff face.

Located by volunteers from the Jersey Asian Hornet Group, the nest was located at a height of 35m (114ft) on Snow Hill and had to be removed using a crane "at its highest extension".

An extendable lance was then used to remove it, the group said.

The Government of Jersey confirmed its invasive species and geomarine teams had assisted.

Volunteers have now helped to deal with more than 1,000 nests in the island, the Jersey Asian Hornet Group said.
