Deputy Paul Montague says the committee is looking for people who can "add real value"

Two people are being sought to join the education sport and culture committee at the States of Guernsey as non-voting members.

The roles would involve providing the Committee for Education, Sport and Culture with subject-matter expertise and constructive challenge and scrutiny, as part of policy development and implementation.

The successful members would be expected to participate fully in the committee's work, but would not have a vote, it said.

The term of office would likely start in March and continue until May 2029, with the application deadline on 13 February 2026, the States confirmed.

'Diverse range of views'

The committee's diverse mandate includes education, apprenticeships, sport, leisure and recreation, libraries, museums, galleries and heritage, archaeology, the arts, Island Archives and civic celebrations such as Liberation Day.

President of the committee, Deputy Paul Montague, said it was looking for two members who could bring skills and experience that would "add real value".

Montague said the the committee was keen "to ensure a diverse range of views" were represented in its membership and it welcomed applications from people of all ages and backgrounds.

The States said the time commitment for a non-voting member varied, but would include attending and preparing for committee meetings.
