New Beatles attraction will wow fans, guide says
Apple Corps LtdA Beatles tour guide says a major new attraction could bring even more visitors to the city as interest in the band continues to grow.
The Beatles Story is due to relocate to the former St John's Market site in Liverpool in 2028, alongside a new Yellow Submarine experience at St John's Beacon.
The plans have been welcomed by tourism leaders, who expect the expanded attraction to draw large numbers of visitors from around the world.
Charlotte Martin, vice chair of the Liverpool City Region Tour Guide Association, said: "What they're going to experience when they come to this new attraction is going to blow their minds."
Martin said guides were excited by the announcement and the opportunities it could create for the city's visitor economy.
As a full-time Beatles guide, she said interest in the band showed no sign of slowing down and had continued to grow among new generations of fans.
Martin said tourists regularly travelled to Liverpool specifically to explore the city's Beatles heritage.
She said attention should now focus on ensuring the area was prepared for increased visitor numbers when the attraction opens.
"We just want that smooth path for the visitor on the day," she said.
Apple Corps LtdMartin said transport arrangements, including coach drop-off and pick-up points, would need to be carefully planned to avoid congestion.
"The last thing you need is for there to be gridlock, especially in this area on busy cruise days," she said.
She also expressed hope that investment linked to the project would improve the appearance of the surrounding neighbourhood.
Martin said the area already had strong connections to Beatles history, including the former Blacklers department store, where George Harrison once worked as an apprentice.
"When we do get things right, we do it well," she said. "Let's all get together and we can work it out."
