Walker rescued from steep valley in Peak District

A stranded walker was rescued from a steep-sided valley in the Peak District.

Glossop Mountain Rescue was called on Saturday evening after a "well-equipped walker" got into difficulty in a valley on Kinder Scout, Derbyshire.

Mountain rescue volunteers set off up Blackden Clough to find and rescue the walker, who was described as being severely hypoglycaemic and potentially hypothermic.

The rescue team said the search was "short-lived" as the walker guided the volunteers with their torch, but the descent was "quite arduous", with the team standing down at about 01:00 BST on Sunday.
