Sheepish junction wins Roundabout of The Year
4 Sheep's SakeA sheep-themed roundabout has been named Roundabout of The Year for 2026, by the UK Roundabout Appreciation Society.
"Roundabouts lift our sagging spirits on long tiresome journeys with their infinite variety and inventiveness", said the President of UKRAS, Kevin Beresford.
"The Fleet one with the sheep caught our attention because of the way the whole community get involved."
Local resident Sue Ashwood began decorating the roundabout's four wooden sheep in 2020 and has since gathered a team of helpers. Calling themselves 4 Sheep's Sake, they decorate the sheep with costumes to mark occasions throughout the year.
4 Sheep's SakeThe wooden sheep were originally placed on the roundabout, which forms part of the A3013, because one of the exits leads to Bramshot Farm Country Park. Mrs Ashwood's team has adopted the flock as a community project.
"We decorate them and raise money for charities." said Mrs Ashwood.
"We have a Facebook page and it just gets bigger and bigger. It brings a lot of smiles to a lot of people's faces."
