Parts of Sussex have woken up to snowfall, as a cold health alert for the South East is extended.

Places including Hastings, Crowborough, Forest Row, Heathfield and Ashdown Forest have seen a covering of snow.

A Met Office yellow warning of snow and ice for the county was in force on Friday morning.

A UK Health Security Agency amber cold health alert has been extended until 9 January, with sub-zero temperatures expected at night-time in many places.
