Free water quality tests for private supplies
Rui Vieira/PA WireIslanders with private water supplies are being reminded to take up free annual water quality tests.
Guernsey Water and the Office of Environmental Health and Pollution Regulation said they were available to those with private water supplies such as a well or a borehole.
They said registering a private supply also meant owners would receive notification of any potential pollution incidents that could affect their water quality.
Cathy Rirsch, senior environmental health officer at OEHPR, said tests would cover a range of parameters commonly tested for with domestic drinking water, providing those on private supplies with the reassurance that their water was safe.
"If it isn't safe, it provides them with the knowledge to take appropriate action," she added.
"With consent from those registering, we plan to share test results and supply locations with Guernsey Water, which could help provide better data on pollution incidents and allow us to alert any individual whose supply may be affected by pollution incidents in future."
