A section of the M6 is to close overnight while urgent surface repair works are carried out.

National Highways said the road between junctions 39 at Shap and 40 at Penrith on the M6 southbound would shut on Tuesday between 22:00 GMT and 06:00 on Wednesday.

Earlier in January, the same junctions were closed as the Clifton railway bridge was replaced.

National Highways said a diversion would be in place on the A6, with marked signs.
