Police were called on Thursday morning after welfare concerns

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an 82-year-old man was found dead at a house in north-west London.

Officers arrested the 52-year-old within minutes after being called to West End Lane, which runs between Kilburn and West Hampstead, at about 11:25 GMT on Thursday following welfare concerns.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Officers are trying to identify the 82-year-old and inform his family, the Metropolitan Police said. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course, the force added.

Ch Supt Jason Stewart said: "A team of detectives are working quickly to establish the full picture surrounding this man's death."

He added: "At this time, officers are treating this as an isolated incident with no risk to the wider community.

"We ask anyone who was around West End Lane at this time, who may have seen or heard anything unusual, to speak to us."
