The remains of Kevin Judge were discovered in Huddersfield in January

Human remains discovered in a forest near Huddersfield are those of a man who went missing nearly 13 years ago, police have said.

The remains, which were found on waste ground at Kiln Lane, between Emley and Clayton West, on 14 January, were believed to be those of Kevin Judge, from Lupset in Wakefield, a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.

According to the Missing People website, he was reported missing on 15 April 2013 and had been 68 when he disappeared.

Det Supt Damian Roebuck said officers were "confident" the remains had been identified and there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

"Kevin's family are being supporting by specialist officers and I hope this development may start to bring them some closure following the long-running investigation into his disappearance," he said.
