Man suffers serious injuries as train hits car

British Transport Police says inquiries into the crash at Richborough are ongoing

A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after a train struck a car, police say.

Emergency services were called to the line near Sandwich at 16.32 GMT on Tuesday after the crash at a level crossing in Richborough, Kent.

A British Transport Police spokesperson said the man was airlifted to hospital.

They added no other injuries had been reported, and inquiries were ongoing into the circumstances leading up to the collision.
