Police reassure parents after school knife claims
BBCPolice are reassuring parents after reports of a knife allegedly being brought to a high school arose on social media.
Facebook posts from Saturday claimed a young person brought a "huge kitchen knife" to St Sampsons High School in Guernsey and was making threats to a pupil.
Guernsey Police said there is no evidence a knife was brought to the school but confirmed a separate issue involving a knife and a young person relating to the posts "has been dealt with".
They added this incident was not on school premises or in school hours and no one was placed in danger.
A spokesperson for the police added: "This has understandably caused alarm for parents, however we wanted to reassure the community we have been working closely with the school and wider partner agencies to address it.
"We take this kind of report incredibly seriously, as do education, and so robust discussions have taken place with the young person and their family."
