The Hull Boy to switch on city's Christmas lights
The Hull BoyA teenage fundraiser known as The Hull Boy is to switch on the city's Christmas lights on 20 November.
Marcus, 17, became the youngest person to run the entire length of the UK in June, raising more than £160,000 for the charity Mind.
He has spoken about struggling with his mental health and said he took up running as a way of improving his symptoms.
In October, he was given a Pride of Britain Special Recognition award for his fundraising activities and his online work highlighting mental health issues.
Marcus will join Lord Mayor Cheryl Payne to switch on the lights in a ceremony in Queen Victoria Square.
It will take place at 18:45 GMT, with a firework display also planned.
Marcus said: "It's an honour for me and my family to be asked to turn on the lights. I've seen it on the television for years. It means the world to us and I cannot wait."
Marcus, from Malton in North Yorkshire, got his nickname due to his love of Hull City football club,.
