Windrush line staff vote for three-day strike

Some workers on one of London's Overground lines have planned three days of strike action in a dispute over pay.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) are due to walk out for 24 hours on 26 February, 26 March and 23 April on the Windrush line.

The union said its members, who work on signalling and telecoms, have been offered a 1.5% pay rise, which they said was "derisory".

Contractor Cleshar, which employs signalling and telecoms workers on behalf of Transport for London (TfL), has been approached for comment. TfL has urged both parties to work together to resolve the dispute.

RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey said: "Our members have been insulted with such a derisory offer and have no choice but to take strike action."

A spokesperson for TfL said: "We urge the RMT and Cleshar CS Ltd to work together to resolve this dispute over pay and conditions.

"We are assessing the impact of potential strike action and are putting plans in place to help minimise any disruption for our customers."

In September, commuters faced a five-day walk-out called by the RMT on the London Underground over pay and conditions.
