A man has been jailed for more than five years after drugs worth £300,000 were seized at a property in Aberdeen.

Ethan Kerr, 27, was arrested following a search in the city's Persley Den View led to the recovery of cocaine in April last year.

He admitted being concerned in the supply of drugs.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, Kerr was jailed for five years and four months.

At an earlier hearing, prosecutor Ross Price said the high purity cocaine haul had the potential for further adulteration to generate greater profits on the streets.

The court heard he had been tasked with helping with the drugs that were delivered to the property after he ran up debts.

He had panicked and left the building when he realised the amount of drugs was far higher than anticipated.

Lynsey Morgan, defending, said Kerr was full of remorse for his actions.

'Bad record'

Passing sentence, Lord Summers made reference to Kerr's previous convictions for breaching drugs laws, and the quantity that police found at the house.

He added: "You are 27 and you have acquired a bad record since you first came to the attention of the courts in 2016."

The judge said his involvement was at the "medium level" and told Kerr he would have been jailed for right years had he not pleaded guilty.

Det Insp John Pirie said: "Drugs can have a devastating impact on our communities, and this result underlines our determination to getting these harmful substances off our streets and holding those involved in their supply accountable."
