Five arrested after man hurt in machete attack

Three teenagers and two men have been arrested after a man was injured with a machete in Ravensthorpe.

The victim was taken to hospital with a leg injury and later discharged after armed police were called to reports he had been hurt on Park Road shortly after 22:00 GMT.

Three suspects were arrested at the scene while two others were discovered in a nearby vehicle after the police helicopter was deployed.

West Yorkshire Police said the males, aged 16, 17, 18, 19 and 23, remained in custody.

The force said a number of weapons were seized, including an axe and Rambo knife, which had been discarded.

Det Insp Will Denton said police activity was continuing in the area and urged anyone with information to get in touch.
