The car park at Colwick Recreation Ground is to close for four weeks from Monday.

Gedling Borough Council said the car park in Mile End Road would remain closed until 3 April to allow for essential resurfacing and improvement works to take place.

Planned work includes a full resurfacing of the current car park to a more durable tarmac surface, as well as the introduction of marked parking bays.

The council said the project had received £81,000 from the East Midlands Combined County Authority via funding provided by the government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Jenny Hollingsworth, portfolio holder for sustainable growth and economy said the council appreciated the closure may cause some inconvenience for visitors but said the works would provide long-term benefits for park users.

"The new surface and layout will create a more accessible and efficient car park that better meets the needs of the community," she said.
