Arrest after theft of gold coins worth £30k

Police investigating the theft of gold bullion coins worth about £30,000 have made an arrest.

Officers in Northamptonshire said the coins were taken from a home in Rock Road, Oundle, between 14:00 and 16:00 BST on 18 June.

The force said 10 gold Britannia bullion coins - each weighing 1oz (about 31.1g) - and another 10 of the same coins weighing 0.25oz (about 7.8g) - were stolen.

A 36-year-old man, from Peterborough, has been arrested on suspicion of theft and released on conditional bail while inquiries continue.

It appealed for anyone who may have been approached by someone selling them - or who may have spotted their sale online - to get in touch.
