Survey shows priorities for island harbours

More than 1,000 people have responded to a survey asking for views about two Guernsey harbour areas.

The Guernsey Development Agency survey sent out their documents in October and said they were "exceptionally happy" with the response.

In total, there were 3,650 comments from 1,120 people.

Among suggestions from respondents were the need to improve bus services, and reduce traffic.

Facilities for young people are not adequate in either of the harbours according to 55% of the people surveyed in St Peter Port and 64% in St Sampson.

Adequate green spaces was one of the main things thought to be missing from St Peter Port Harbour.

When asked about opportunities for economic growth at St Peter Port Harbour, 48% of people agreed facilities and attractions for visitors would help achieve this,

A total of 70% of respondents felt the east coast of Guernsey needed change.
