Jersey War Tunnels plans new exhibition space
BBCJersey War Tunnels has announced plans for a new exhibition space and improvements to visitor facilities.
New plans were outlining the potential creation of an exhibition space within the main car park and an extension to the existing visitor centre building, bosses said.
The attraction is due to host two community engagement sessions to share information on the plans and father feedback for future developments.
Bosses said the proposed facility would enable "the safe display and long-term preservation of historically significant artefacts" as some artefacts "cannot currently be shown within the tunnels due to environmental limitations".
'Feasibility scheme'
They added: "In addition, the feasibility scheme includes the reconfiguration of existing car parking areas to improve pedestrian safety and enhance vehicle access across the site."
The 1km (0.62-mile) network of hillside tunnels were constructed during World War Two by enslaved workers from across Europe during Nazi Germany's occupation of the Channel Islands.
Members of the public have been invited to view materials detailing the lates5t proposals and leave comments to help inform the design process ahead of a formal planning application to the Government of Jersey.
The consultation sessions are set to take place at: Jersey War Tunnels, Visitor Centre Café, Les Charrières Malorey, St Lawrence, on Monday 2 March 2026 and Tuesday 3 March, between 18:00 GMT and 19:30.
