Detailed plans have been submitted to upgrade facilities at a school in Nottinghamshire.

In November, Ashfield District Council backed plans by Selston High School, which is part of the Two Counties Trust, to build a new four-court sports hall with studio space.

Now, the trust has confirmed its plans for phase two of the scheme, which would use part of the school's central courtyard to create a new dining room, kitchen and upgraded library.

The sports hall, which has attracted investment from the council, will be open to the public on evenings, at weekends and during school holidays.

The school, which is currently rated Good by Ofsted, has around 870 pupils.

Headteacher David Broomhead, said: "We are excited to share plans to develop our sporting and central facilities at Selston High School.

"We have been working hard for a number of years to secure these building improvements and are now one step closer to seeing the plans become a reality.

Our students, families and local community deserve the very best, and these proposals are testament to the commitment of colleagues across the school and The Two Counties Trust in supporting our vision."

Phase three of the investment plans will feature more refurbishment, with phase four seeing the demolition of the existing leisure centre in the school grounds.
