Green light for 20 new houses at care home site
LDRSPlans to build homes on the site of a former care home in West Hallam have been approved.
At an Erewash Borough Council meeting on Wednesday, councillors unanimously backed the proposal from RBSL Developments to build 20 houses on the former Beechcroft care home site in Nursery Avenue.
The care home was among seven closed by Derbyshire County Council in 2022 due to a combined repair backlog of £31m. It was demolished in 2025.
The plans will see 20 semi-detached homes buillt, two of which will be classed as affordable homes.
George Machin, agent for the applicants, said the development would include "street trees" and "generous gardens".
Councillor Harrison Broadhurst, chairman of the meeting, said: "I feel very positively about this application. It is exactly the sort of thing we want to see at this committee, and I am very excited about it."
