Man dies after off-road bike crashes into barrier

A man in his 30s has died after an off-road motorbike crashed into a car park barrier.

Officers from Lancashire Police were called to the incident on an unnamed road off Rivington Lane, on the approach to Rivington Hall Barn, Rivington, at 21:04 BST on Wednesday.

The rider of the blue Yamaha off-road bike was pronounced dead at the scene, while a woman in her 30s, who was a passenger, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. She has since been discharged.

Sgt Andrew Swindlehurst said: "A man has very sadly died following this collision and our thoughts remain with him and his loved ones at this difficult time."

Swindlehurst said the man's family were being supported.

Police have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with footage to contact them, including anyone with footage of the motorbike being ridden around nearby residential areas.
