A man has died in hospital nearly four weeks after a three-car crash in Dorset.

Police said the collision involved a black Mini Cooper, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a BMW X3 on Ringwood Road in Verwood, near to the St Stephen's Lane junction, on 23 December at about 17:40 GMT.

The driver of the Mini, a man from the area in his 70s, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries but died on Monday.

Dorset Police said the driver of the Vauxhall, a woman in her 50s, suffered minor injuries and the driver of the BMW was uninjured.

Sgt Paul Hind, of the force's roads policing team, said: "Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly died following this collision."

He added officers were "working to establish the full circumstances" and urged witnesses and anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
