Golf-mad boy, 4, hopes to take after hero McIlroy
BBCA four-year old boy who has a passion for golf is hoping to emulate his hero Rory McIlroy.
Rex, from Shrewsbury, began learning to play at just 18 months old after watching his dad.
It became apparent that he had a natural gift for the sport when he was given some plastic clubs to play with at home.
"We realised quite quickly that his hand-eye coordination was really good for his age," said his mum, Hayley.
His passion continued, and he asked for some proper clubs not long after.
"For his third birthday we had a full set of Callaway golf clubs," Hayley said.
"About 12 months ago he started having golf lessons."

Rex recently did his first competition at a local golf club, which saw adults and children compete together.
"The other children, if I had to guess, were six, seven, eight years older than him," Hayley told the BBC.
"The main thing for us as well is that he enjoys it, it's never been a forced hobby.
"It's just something that he picked up and he loves and really enjoys."
She said Rex was working on his strength and conditioning and wanted to continue doing competitions and eventually try one-to-one coaching.
"Obviously he doesn't have the strength yet to be able to hit it as far as the older children, but the direction and skills that he's picked up are fantastic," she said.
At the moment he's a little bit young to have a handicap.
"He plays every hole, no matter the weather."
She added that it was teaching Rex valuable life lessons.
"It teaches him a lot of really good skills as well like respect, patience and discipline," she said.
