Passengers heading to London are being warned about disruption to rail services in Buckinghamshire this week.

There will be no Chiltern Railways trains between London Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway, via Amersham, between Thursday and Sunday, inclusive.

It is because of signalling upgrades to London Underground's Metropolitan line.

There will be rail replacement buses over the four days, connecting with trains to and from London Marylebone at Beaconsfield.

The buses will stop at Beaconsfield, Amersham, Great Missenden, Wendover, Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury and Aylesbury Vale Parkway.

Transport for London (TfL) will operate rail replacement buses between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham, with stops at Rickmansworth, Chorleywood and Chalfont & Latimer, amongst other TfL stations.

Roadworks in the Chorleywood and Rickmansworth area will significantly increase journey times and longer distance bus journeys will require a change at Rickmansworth.

Passengers on Chiltern Railways' rail replacement buses along the closed section of line are encouraged to buy paper tickets to ensure they pay the correct fare for their journeys.

Anyone travelling directly from Aylesbury to London Marylebone is advised to go via Princes Risborough.

Michael Stewart, commercial and customer strategy director at Chiltern Railways, said he had recognised the inconvenience it would cause.

He thanked customers for their patience and said the signalling works were "crucial to ensure the future reliability of journeys".
