Arrest after cyclist seriously injured in crash
GoogleA man has been arrested after a cyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Leicester.
Leicestershire Police said it was called to Scraptoft Lane - close to the junction with Barbara Avenue - just after 22:00 BST on Monday, following a report of the crash involving a blue Toyota Yaris and pushbike.
The force said the cyclist, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and was continuing to receive treatment.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation, police added.
Officers appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact the force.
Det Sgt Charlotte Mee said: "I'd like to speak to anyone who was in the area and captured the incident on a dashcam, saw what happened or saw the car or cyclist beforehand.
"My appeal extends to residents living nearby who may have captured anything on CCTV or a doorbell camera.
"Anything you're able to provide could help our investigation."
