Charities' set for trek up Wales' highest mountain

Two charities are teaming up in a bid to raise funds by climbing Wales' highest mountain overnight.

Participants will head up Yr Wyddfa, also known as Snowdon, to fundraise for the Wolves Foundation and Compton Care, both based in Wolverhampton.

Mountain leaders will support the team during the six-hour climb to the summit, which will begin at about 01:45 BST on 2 June.

"Trekking up Snowdon at night provides a mental and physical challenge but should also be a hugely positive experience," Carla Hentsch, from the Wolves Foundation, said.

The money raised will be shared equally between the two charities.

The Wolves Foundation delivers projects with the aim of creating opportunities and changing lives - while Compton Care provides specialist support for people living with life-limiting conditions.

Compton Care's head of fundraising, Lee Newman, hoped people would join the challenge in June to support local communities.
