Two women have died in hospital following a two-car crash.

Cambridgeshire Police was called to the A10, near Chittering, at about 16:45 GMT on 28 December after a collision between a silver BMW and a white Nissan Qashqai.

The force confirmed on Friday that the 53-year-old driver of the Nissan died at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, on 30 December while her passenger, 47, died on 1 Jan. Both women were from Northamptonshire.

The driver of the BMW, a 54-year-old man from Haddenham, Cambridgeshire, was originally arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drug driving, and possession of class A drugs, and was bailed until 27 March.

The driver who died came from Ecton, near Northampton, while her passenger was from Duke Street, Northampton.

A passenger in the BMW was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the incident.
