The coastguard had to be called after a car overturned on a beach following a driver attempting "doughnuts" in the sand.

Furness Coastguard said it had been called out to Flookburgh in Cumbria on Easter Monday.

Bay Search and Rescue said five youths had been in the car and that they had "fortunately" sustained only minor injuries.

It said it righted the car and then towed it to prevent further oil and fuel pollution. The coastguard said the beach was a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
