Cannabis worth £1.2m seized as two arrested
West Mercia PoliceA cannabis farm worth about £1.2m has been found during a raid on an abandoned factory in Worcestershire.
Officers stormed the site in an industrial estate off Birmingham Road, Kidderminster, on Wednesday as part of a day of action across the county.
Inside, they found a sophisticated set-up across several rooms including hydroponics systems and extractor fans.
Two men, aged 44 and 32, have been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis, West Mercia Police said.
"We know the impact that drugs have on our communities, and we know that the production of cannabis can be linked to organised crime groups whose activities fuel further criminality including modern slavery," said Det Sgt Kirsty Hill.
She added: "This was a large-scale, sophisticated enterprise with a significant amount of established cannabis plants.
"This will now all be seized and destroyed, disrupting the criminal activity. Inquiries are ongoing in relation to the men who are arrested."
