Heated Rivalry cottage in Canada will soon be up for rent
AirbnbFor Heated Rivalry fans, "I'm coming to the cottage" is the line that cemented Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander's romance. Soon, others will be able to head to the cottage, too.
The lakefront property in Muskoka, Ontario, that served as the backdrop for the finale of the hit TV ice hockey romance will be up for rent on Airbnb as of 3 March, the company has announced.
The Barlochan cottage, designed by Toronto-based architect Trevor McIvor, features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking lush greenery, as well as a private dock and home gym.
It will initially rent for C$248.10 ($181.12; £134) a night, a nod to Hollander's and Rozanov's hockey jersey numbers — 24 and 81 — on the show.
That rate is available for guests who can snag an early booking for weekends in May. The property will open for general bookings in June, with the new price set to be announced then.
In the show, the cottage belongs to Hollander, the star player and team captain of the fictional Montreal Voyageurs, who invites fellow professional ice hockey player Rozanov to spend a quiet, romantic weekend there with him away from the public eye.
"I think you're going to like the cottage. It's relaxing," Hollander tells Rozanov.
Rozanov later accepts the invite, and experiences a quintessential Canadian cottage getaway filled with burgers and beer, loon calls and lake swims, as his romance with Hollander deepens.
The real-life Barlochan cottage that framed the idyllic fictional getaway is about a two-hour drive from the Toronto Pearson Airport.
It was designed as a four-season retreat, according to the architects behind it, and is made out of a prefabricated Douglas fir structure that is shaped by the Canadian Shield topography that surrounds it.
Airbnb says that the owner of the cottage has preferred to remain anonymous, but has worked closely with the company to list the property.
The Muskoka cottage is one of many famous backdrops available on the vacation rental site.
Other notable properties include Harry Potter's childhood home in Lavenham, England, and the Swan house in Washington state that is featured in the Twilight vampire series.
