A plan to build up to 1,500 homes near Telford is being prepared by a developer.

Bloor Homes said the Bratton Green site covered 88.5 hectares of farmland between the A442 and the B5063, north of the Bratton and Shawbirch area.

It could also include employment land, a primary school, a local centre and a mobility hub.

Mark Rose, planning agent for Bloor, said the application would be ready for submission after the conclusion of three weeks of hearings.

The hearings are deciding if Telford and Wrekin Council's plan for housing in its area can remain in place.

Planning inspectors are due to hear from spokespeople for the authority, developers and campaigners.

They will then go away to decide if the authority's local plan has the power to control housebuilding in the area.

Telford and Wrekin Council officials told the hearing that the authority had enough housing supply to cover more than six years of planned growth.

Planning consultant Kirsten Ward, of DLP, said the council was set to build 430 more homes than the plan expected by 2041.

Gerald Kells, representing Campaign to Protect Rural England Shropshire, said Telford was "over-providing" housing sites.
