A further man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a drive-by shooting on Christmas Day.

The 23-year-old was detained on Tuesday night by South Yorkshire Police in connection with the attack in Darnall, which saw a 20-year-old shot in the chest.

Emergency services were called to Wilfred Drive at 23:30 GMT on 25 December and the male victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Raheel Mahmood, 23, of Elmham Road, Darnall was previously arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He is due before Sheffield Crown Court on 16 February.

Following the latest arrest, Det Ch Insp Simon Cartwright said: "I want to highlight again just how much we appreciate the help and support of our local communities.

"We are always stronger when we work together and we are grateful for the information and intelligence provided by members of the public."
