Council tax in Clackmannanshire to rise by 5.6%
GoogleCouncillors in Clackmannanshire have voted to increase council tax by 5.6% following the local authority's annual budget meeting.
It means the average Band D property will pay £1683.67 a year, up from £1594.38.
A revenue budget of £181m and a gross capital budget of £54m was approved for 2026/27 by councillors.
Council leader and SNP councillor Ellon Forson said it had been "a difficult year for many families and individuals across Clackmannanshire."
She added: "Households are still feeling the impact of rising costs, and setting this budget has required careful and responsible decisions."
Forson said that the decision to increase council tax "is not something we do lightly."
She added: "But it allows us to maintain essential local services while continuing to invest in Clackmannanshire's future - including our new Wellbeing Hub and Lochies School and improvements to roads and community facilities."
Clackmannanshire is the smallest council in mainland Scotland by population, with no single party having overall control.
Stirling Council has announced a council tax increase of 8.75% at its annual revenue and capital budget meeting.
It means the average Band D will pay £1752.90, compared to £1611.87 last year.
Falkirk councillors will meet next week to set their increase.
