New Road in Bridgnorth will close for two days

A Bridgnorth road will close for two days, for an emergency safety inspection of a rock face.

Shropshire Council said New Road would be shut from 09:30 to 16:00 GMT on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The inspection will determine if there has been further deterioration, and assess whether traffic signals there could be removed, or if further work is required.

A signed diversion route would be in place, the authority said, and there would be access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists only.

It added that there would not be access for HGVs, large vehicles and buses through North Gate, High Street, West Castle Street and New Road.

"These vehicles will have to turn around at the North Gate roundabout," it said.

"This is because they cannot exit through New Road due to the emergency closure and as the corner off High Street onto Listley Street is not suitable."
