Firefighters continue to tackle waste site blaze
Jamie KoowareeFirefighters have been working overnight as they continue to tackle a fire at an industrial waste site.
Shortly before 18:00 BST on Tuesday, Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) said 10 fire engines were at the site near Brunswick Road in Ashford and people in the area were urged to keep windows and doors shut due to the smoke.
The advice remains in place as six fire engines, a vehicle allowing crews to work from height, a bulk water carrier and a specialist firefighting robot stayed at the scene.
"As crews continue to pull apart materials to extinguish the fire, smoke levels may increase throughout the morning," the service warned.
The KFRS volunteer response team were at the scene overnight providing welfare support to crews.
The service is also urging residents to share information with those who do not have access to the internet.
