Water supply issues are continuing to affect householders in Shropshire after Storm Goretti led to power cuts, affecting some local water pumps.

Severn Trent (ST) said it expected the "majority" of the area to have water later, but supplies may continue to be intermittent or be of lower pressure than normal.

The company said it was its "absolute priority" to make sure people got water, bringing in a fleet of tankers and was doing everything it could to get supplies back to normal.

On Saturday afternoon, firefighters in 4x4 vehicles from Ludlow, Tweedale and Church Stretton fire stations helped Severn Trent to deliver bottled water to affected residents.

The company said it was "incredibly sorry" for the supply issues, and teams had been working through Saturday night to restart pumps and move water around the network.

It has thanked people for their patience and understanding after the storm caused "multiple power outages" across Shropshire.

Around 200 properties in Shropshire were without power on Sunday afternoon, according to National Grid (NG) figures, compared with more than 10,000 on Friday.

On Friday, NG said the snowy conditions had "made it difficult for our teams to reach some areas to carry out repairs safely".
