Hundreds of homes affected by unplanned power cuts

UK Power Networks said specialist engineers would continue to divert power remotely, so power could come back on at any point

Hundreds of people have been affected by power cuts across the region.

Unplanned electricity outages have been reported in Norfolk, Essex, Suffolk, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

UK Power Networks said it was investigating the faults and had sent engineers to the affected areas.

A spokesperson said: "We believe the issue is an overhead network fault that initially interrupted power to 1,370 properties."

Affected areas included:

  • more than 600 properties in Holt, Norfolk
  • more than 400 properties between Fakenham and Blakeney, Norfolk
  • nearly 300 properties between Saxmundham and Snape, in Suffolk
  • more than 250 properties between Attleborough and Wymondham, Norfolk
  • more than 200 properties in The Broads around Stalham, Norfolk
  • more than 150 properties around Hardingham, Norfolk

A small number of properties in or around:

  • Narborough, Norfolk
  • Newton Flotman, Norfolk
  • Great Leighs, Great Dunmow and Thaxted, Essex
  • Tiptree, Essex
  • Stradbroke, Wickhambrook, Haverhill and Newmarket, Suffolk
  • Thornham Parva, Suffolk
  • Rayleigh, Essex
